THE SPACE OF ENCOUNTERS

I centered this series around the psychological approach called field theory, according to which every individual is a complex force field, a dynamic system of needs and tensions that direct the individual’s perceptions and actions. Encounters prompt an interaction of two fields which, in turn, leads to a structuring and organizing of a new one. Acting through the shared field, one individual helps shape the other’s reality, and vice versa. When painting, we record traces, touches, permeations, shifts that take place in our psyche during these encounters. Each person influences us partly on a conscious, partly on a subconscious level, touching us and transferring parts of their inner world, affecting our identity along the way. Encounters with others indirectly reflected on my artistic expression as well. In the course of the creative process, these interactions and permeations affected the changes of form – anthropomorphic figures resembling elemental beings began taking shape from what was initially an indistinct, indeterminant form.
